February 3, 2018: We are happy to share this info about Nancy Nester. She has been volunteering for O.S.C.A.R. through Pass It Along. Nancy, we appreciate all you do!
Nancy Nester – Pass It Along Intern
In 2017, Pass It Along had the honor of having Nancy Nester, 16, of Sparta as an intern! Nancy began volunteering with Pass It Along during her freshman year of high school, and over the past year took her volunteering to the next level. Starting in March 2017, she teamed up with OSCAR (One Step Closer Animal Rescue), a non-profit animal rescue organization in Sparta, NJ. In total, Nancy completed 268.5 hours in 2017 and now organizes their volunteer program!
“She does everything when she comes to help us from cleaning to helping feed the pups to loading for events to helping with adoptions,” said Anthony Prisco of OSCAR. “You name it, and she helps us with it. Last weekend (January 6 & 7, 2018) we had 16 pups go to their forever homes. Nancy came to help on Saturday and we had 10 pups go home on that day. That definitely would not have been possible without her help.”
Thank you to Selective Insurance and Pass It Along!
Nov. 9, 2017: With the assistance of Pass It Along in Sparta, Selective Insurance did a VOLUNTEER DAY at the shelter. They did a supply collection before and dropped off donations. Selective employees spent about 5 hours at our shelter helping to clean and away the supplies. The volunteers got more then half the dogs out for walks (it was cold today so we were limited to dogs that could handle it).
We are so appreciative of the help from people in our community!

Kids Helping O.S.C.A.R.
We realize how important it is for kids to learn how to help animals and that there are animals in need in their community. We have different ways to help, all of which benefit the rescue. Kids learn the value of setting goals and feeling like they are making a difference.
Be sure to visit our page Kids Helping O.S.C.A.R. to read more about the O.S.C.A.R. and our local kids!

KIDS - Here is a great way that you can help O.S.C.A.R.! Collect change, then give us a call. We'll arrange for you to come down and have a personal tour of our new shelter. You'll get to see the dogs and cats you are helping.
My 8 yr old daughter just had a birthday party this Saturday and asked her friends to bring pet supplies as gifts. I would love to bring her to the facility after school sometime this or next week to drop it all off if that's ok? She collected bags of dog and cat food, some cleaning supplies, bones, toys and collars.
Also, our Brownie Girl Scout troop made dog chew toys out of t-shirts last week. We'd like to being them along, too.
A big THANK YOU to Peri and her family, friends, and Brownie Troop!
Peri and her family stopped by the OSCAR Shelter last week to deliver the toys and supplies. Peri had the opportunity to visit with one of the OSCAR puppies.
HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY, PERI!
I am throwing a birthday party for my son at the end of January and we just moved to the area. My son, who will be 3, is a lover of all animals and has been since the start. We have a family black lab, Swisher, who is the best. He would like to ask for donations for your shelter instead of presents so I would really like to know what you guys are looking for. I’m going to ask for monetary donations too but I think people will more likely bring actual items that are needed. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for the suggestions. We had Michael's party yesterday and got some things we would love to deliver to you guys whenever is convenient. I’m attaching a picture of my son with all the stuff we received. We are also going to add gloves, cleaning supplies and pill pockets.
Many thanks to Michael and his family & friends.
HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, MICHAEL!
