Featured Pets

Sometimes there is a pet whose face or story just touches your heart.

Special Dogs at OSCAR Animal Rescue

Our featured dogs and cats are often with O.S.C.A.R. longer than other pets. Sometimes they have special needs and other times it just takes longer to find them the right family. So, it often costs more for their care.

Here are some deserving pets who really need forever families.
Can you open your home to one of them?

If you are not in the position to adopt a pet of your own right now, why not consider SPONSORING a dog or cat? Occasionally, we have pets with special needs who require extra vet care, medications, and special food. Your SPONSORSHIP will help us give them all the special care they need as they wait for their forever family.

Please type 'Sponsor' in the Special Instructions box. Thank you!.

Meet Roland!

Size: Medium
Weight: Med. 26-60 lbs (when grown)
Sex: Male-Neutered

Not good with kids
Not good with dogs
Not good with cats
Needs experienced adopter

Roland was surrendered when his owners decided they did not want a dog anymore. He has not adapted well to the changes in his young life and will guard his home, his person and his food so he will not "lose" them again. Roland needs someone who is an experienced, strong handler who is willing to work with him to overcome his anxieties. He does seem to form bonds with women faster than men. A quieter home with low traffic and no children would suit him best. Roland has so much potential to be a wonderful pet in the right home. Roland is only about 3-4 years old and 41 pounds. Please help this beagle boy find the loving home that he deserves.

Meet Scrunch!

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador Retriever
Color: Brown/Chocolate - with White
Age: Young
Size: Medium
Weight: 26-60 lbs(when grown)
Sex: Female-Spayed

Not good with dogs
Good with cats
Shots current

Scrunchie is a good girl. She is very affectionate and playful. Scrunch will sit on command for a treat, adores peanut butter and walks well on a leash. Scrunch is is still abit confused right now being left here at the shelter but coming out of her shell and becoming happier with each passing day. She was surrendered when she and the resident dog stopped getting along. When Scrunch was a puppy, all was well but a year later is when the issues started with being possessive over food/treats/toys and because of this she needs a home without other dogs. At just over a year old, Scrunchie still plays like a puppy - it can a bit rough and tumble so she would do best in a home with kids 12+ where she wouldn't accidentally knock them over. She does not mind cats once she knows they are there. Scrunch is about 1 - 2 years old and 50 pounds. Please help our girl Scrunch find the loving home she deserves.

Look at this happy, photogenic face! Pansy is a joyful, friendly, sweet girl. She gets along with people and other dogs. We do not know what she thinks of cats. Pansy is no couch potato. She is very playful and happy go lucky. She still has alot of puppy energy and is still working on her manners so a kid free home would suit her best. She will need someone who can continue to train her and give her consistent structure. If you have another playful dog, or a large yard or have an active lifestyle and looking for a companion to jog/hike/etc. with, Pansy is your gal. She is about 1-2 years old and 44 pounds. Meet Nova. We haven't been able to figure out why Nova has been passed over by adopters because Nova is a shelter favorite! Nova always has a smile on her face. She has a happy go lucky personality and is just a sweet snuggler. This smart girl loves cuddles, knows how to do a sit and give paw for a cookie. She would make a great hiking companion and then hang out with you at home. Nova is often found keeping the staff company during their lunch time. While they would miss her terribly, they agree that Nova deserves to have her own home and family to love. Nova gets along with other dogs and would do well with kids age 7+. We do not know what she thinks of cats. Nova is about 42 pounds and a year old. Put in your application to come meet & fall in love with this awesome girl!
